Field View — Automated Gates, Intercom & CCTV.

The owners of Field View wanted their entrance to feel like part of the house — not an afterthought bolted to the boundary. The gates had to sit comfortably against a Tudor-style property, offer serious day-to-day security, and be usable one-handed with a delivery in the other.

That translated into four things: solid brick pillars that would read as though they'd always been there, a set of twin driveway gates in a heritage-friendly timber tone, a matching pedestrian gate for daily use, and the access control and CCTV to make the whole thing quietly useful.

Automated gates live and die on their pillars. We excavated and cast reinforced concrete foundations sized for the gate leaves and the motor loads, then set the below-ground ducting for the gate motors, intercom, keypad and CCTV cabling in the same pour.

The pillars themselves are hand-laid in a reclaimed-effect red-brick blend, chosen to sit against the Tudor gables of the house. Every course is gauged, the perpends are lined through, and each pillar is capped with a cast concrete cope to shed water cleanly. This is the sort of detail that decides whether an entrance ages well.

The driveway gates are twin swing leaves in a dark oxblood timber-effect finish, with a subtle bow-top rail and open pale detail so the house behind still reads from the road. Underground hydraulic-style motors keep the pillar faces clean — no visible ram, no boxy motor housing.

Access is by a pillar-mounted video intercom and keypad on the pedestrian gate, wired back to a handset inside the house. Delivery drivers get a friendly face and a one-button open; the family get a proper record of who called at the gate.

A high-mount CCTV camera on the outside pillar covers the full approach and the gate line, wired into the house network on the same trenched route as the intercom. Everything terminates neatly — no surface conduit, no visible cable runs.

We finished the threshold in a warm-tone block paving that ties into the existing driveway and reads as one continuous surface once the gates open. The pedestrian gate opens onto the same paving, so the family route from the road to the front door is one clean, level piece of hard landscaping.

Handed over on programme with a full commissioning walk-through of the automation, intercom and CCTV. The owners get a secure, useful front boundary; the house gets an entrance that reads as though it's always been there. That's the standard we hold every external-works job to.
